Ladies - Learn to play water polo course

Southampton’s ladies water polo team, are  recruiting confident swimmers age 13+ who would like to learn the basics of water polo. Our coaches will teach you the rules of the game and skills needed to compete in a game.  The running on Monday Evenings 20:00-21:00 at The Quays Swimming and Diving Complex.

Water polo is an Olympic sport and a fast paced game with two teams competing to score the most goals. Like basketball players can move with the ball and tackle other players. Each team has less than 30 seconds to score a goal passed the opponents goal keeper on each attack. The team who has scored the most goals after four quarters of play wins!

We will cover the below skills:
  • water polo swimming strokes (head up front crawl and back stroke)
  • water polo leg kick (egg-beater)
  • throwing and catching in the water
  • shooting at goal
  • tackling a player with the ball
  • defending the ball
  • water polo rules and referee signals
  • driving (getting past a defender)
  • etc

The first session is free and then you can play £5 a night for 4 weeks and then join the club or join the club after the first week and pay £22.50 per month which includes ASA insurance and a one off fee of £35
